respiration

respiration
Is a chemical process to release the energy contained in organic molecules in living cells into energy for body activity.

Mechanism of respiration:
a. The process of glycolysis
Multilevel decomposition of carbohydrates to form pyruvic acid from glucose. Pyruvic acid is then converted into Acetyl co-A. When anaerobic conditions the pyruvic acid is converted to lactic acid or alcohol with a process called fermentation.

b. Circle of Krebs or Krebs cycle
Also called the citric acid cycle or tricarboxylic acid cycle. Acetic acid is converted into carbon dioxide and ATP to be produced.

c. Circle of cytochrome (electron transfer)
In this process hydrogen is transferred from the acceptor to the other, then the energy produced is captured cytochrome ADP to ATP.
